What is the difference between Islam and Christianity?
Salam to you, Muslims!
Topic: The Death of Christ in Islam
we discussed suras talking about the death of Christ. We have seen that Islam (Quran and Hadith) says the same thing that the Bible says.
Let me ask you to show me the surahs that say what is the difference between Islam and the Holy Bible then?
Doesn't it seem like Islam is the same as Christianity? A?
Let me remind you the topic of our discussion: The Death of Christ in Islam:
So let's discuss Islam:
The Qur'an says in Sura 4:157-158:
“And because they (the Jews) said: “We killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah,” they did not kill him and did not crucify him, but it seemed so to them; and so! those who disagree with this are in doubt. about it; they have no knowledge of it except by searching for a hunch; they didn't kill him for sure. But Allah took him to Himself. Allah has always been Mighty, Wise."
Islam says here that Jesus was exalted to Allah. Christianity says the same thing: God took Jesus to Heaven.
“Never did I say anything to them except what You commanded me to say, namely: “Worship God, my Lord and your Lord”; and I was a witness over them while I lived Among them; when you took me. (Arabic-Tawafaytani) You were the Guardian over them, and You are the witness of all things.”
The phrase "when You took me" is a form of the Arabic word "tawaffa". The term is almost always used in the Qur'an to refer to one who is taken or raised up after death.
The Hadith in Sahih Bukhari says:
Narrated Ibn Masud says:
I saw the Prophet talking about one of the Prophets whose people beat him and made him bleed while he wiped the blood from his face and said: “O Allah! Forgive my people, for they have no knowledge.” Buhari Vol. 4:683
This is what we see in the Bible: the only prophet who was beaten and spoke these words was Jesus Christ as he hung crucified on the cross of Calvary:
“There were two other criminals who were led with Him to execution. And when they came to the place called Golgotha, they crucified Him there, and the criminals, one on the right side and the other on the left. Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:32-34
So Sura 4:157 does not deny the crucifixion of Jesus, but simply denies that the Jews were responsible for the crucifixion.
Compare with this verse: “You (Muslims) did not kill them, but Allah killed them. And it was not you (Muhammad) who threw when you threw, but Allah who threw, so that He could test the believers with a fair test from Him. Here! Allah is the Hearer, the Knower." Sura 8:17
So, Islam says that it was not the Jews who crucified Christ, but the purpose established by God allowed the crucification of Christ. This is what the Bible teaches. Jesus was just one of approximately 250,000 Jews crucified by the Romans.
Do you see now that Islam does not contradict Christianity in this matter? What then is the difference between Islam and Christianity?
